Baba Nanak in his Bani talks of nature and also explains importance of Guru, Father and Mother. पवणु गुरू पाणी पिता माता धरति महतु ॥ दिवसु राति दुइ दाई दाइआ खेलै सगल जगतु ॥ He uses metaphor of air for Guru, one cannot survive without him, he is in the knowledge not in iconography. One cannot see the air same for the Guru. Water is like father, that is the main component of ones being (body), its free and gives one sustenance, respect water like a father. Earth is like mother, greatest bestower of love and caretaker, it gives you all. Nature with sun and moon is the nurturer where and life just an act under them.
