product description
Metaphor of nature is prime in Baba Nanak's verse and elightens about the importance of each element in our lives. This has inspired me to create this embroidered artwork with Mohd Israr and Mehjabi to express the importance of metaphor and the imagery it holds within it. The Bani is embroidered in shapes that represents the Nature. Bani with flora and fauna reminds us about the creations of One Lord ੴ सत नाम.
Baba Nanak in his bani talks nature and also explains importance of Guru, Father and Mother. पवणु गुरू पाणी पिता माता धरति महतु ॥ दिवसु राति दुइ दाई दाइआ खेलै सगल जगतु ॥ He uses metaphor of air for Guru, you can survive without him, but you cannot see him, he is in the knowledge not in iconography. You cannot see the air so the Guru. Father is like water, that makes you, its free and gives you sustenance, respect water like a father. Mother is like earth, greatest love and caretaker, it gives you all. Nature with sun and moon is the nurturer where and life is like a play under them.
This Bani of Baba Nanak with its full grace has been lovingly embroidered in zardosi and chikankari with name of the Divine सत नाम
